Analysis: You've probably heard that new medical information systems are going to revolutionize health care by providing the information to make informed decisions. However, few systems are designed to provide the answers to very specific study hypotheses. That is where we can help. The HSI core staff and network are all experienced researchers who understand database structures and the questions clinicians want information systems to answer.
Data: If you have an interesting hypothesis, but you're not sure whether there is data available to test it, give us a call. We have worked with or know of most of the databases used in health services research that would be of greatest value to you. If a database is on mainframe tape, and you want to move it to your PC, we are experts in health data conversion from mainframe to tape to PC-based CD-ROMs, DVDs and other PC storage media.
Software: If you want a custom software interface for data entry, or a slick multimedia application that can run 'stand-alone' on a CD-ROM, then give us a call. We have worked with pharmaceutical companies in developing the next generation of interactive software to provide new information on the cost effectiveness and efficacy of medical technology.
Medicare Claims: The Medicare claims database has evolved into one of the greatest resources for health services research. Dozens of studies appear in JAMA or the New England Journal of Medicine based on these data because of their scope, size and quality. We have worked extensively with these data for research appearing in premier health care journals and are able to offer clinical researchers a significantly less resource-intensive pathway to complete these analyses using PCs and micro-computers.
